Trusted Through Time: Payroll Solutions That Stand Strong
Our History
Introduction
In the heart of Guyana, amidst an evolving economic landscape, Melisa and Marlon George embarked on a journey that would redefine payroll processing in their nation.
Melisa, an accomplished Accounting & HR Professional with exemplary experience in the private sector dating back to 2000, partners with Marlon, a dynamic and creative-minded entrepreneur. Marlon’s journey in management began in 2002, and he has since held several influential posts in various organizations. As the CEO of GPS, his leadership is driven by his MBA education and ongoing educational pursuits.
Early Days
The idea for Guyana Payroll Solutions Inc. (GPS) germinated from their first venture, Solutions Pro, co-founded in 2014. Solutions Pro provided back-office accounting, QuickBooks, and SAGE support, but it was their shared vision that led to the inception of GPS in 2017. They identified a niche for specialized payroll processing—a foresight that marked the beginning of a new chapter.
Character Development
Melisa, a certified accountant and trainer in Payroll, Financial Management, and Accounting Software, balances her professional life with her passions for gardening, movie-going, and traveling. Her philosophy, inspired by Tony Robbins, “Turn your Should into Must,” reflects her determination and commitment. Marlon, a Shotokan Karate practitioner, and teacher, brings his multifaceted experience as a part-time Management Lecturer, Trainer /Facilitator with the Guyana Tourism Authority, and Toastmaster to the table. His favorite quote, “The sky is not the limit, you are,” epitomizes his boundless approach to life and business.
Challenges and Opportunities
Starting GPS in their Princess Street apartment, affectionately termed the “Hoffice,” they faced the familiar challenges of a burgeoning enterprise. However, the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, while initially a setback, proved to be a pivotal moment. With the world adapting to remote operations, GPS found itself perfectly positioned to offer essential services to companies navigating the new normal.
Resolution and Growth
Recognizing the need to expand beyond the confines of their “Hoffice,” GPS transitioned to a new office space in Providence. This move was not just a change in location but a testament to their growth and the increasing demand for their specialized services.
Conclusion
Today, GPS stands as a beacon of innovation and excellence in payroll processing in Guyana. As the country strides towards significant economic transformation, GPS, under Melisa and Marlon’s visionary leadership, continues to play a crucial role in supporting businesses and contributing to the nation’s progress.
